Analyzing the apathy of work
Today more than ever you will find more people that will say they don’t like their job, whether they admit it openly or not. First, lets separate the types of jobs that exist. There are jobs of passion such as sports, musicians, theater, acting, and education. The majority of people in these positions are doing something they love, there are some that don’t love what they do and just stumbled into it. But the focus of this analysis is not on these careers and jobs, it is on the average office and retail worker who make up the majority of jobs.
The key factor that all of these jobs share is that you are always working under someone else. That makes the boss or manager figure extremely important because they have a great deal of control of shaping how your work life is going to look from the assignments you work on to the people you are likely to work with as they control hiring. A bad manager or boss can make for a bad work experience, but an extremely bad manager/boss can shape your entire outlook on working. What is also challenging to navigate is that you have to consider more than just the immediate level of bosses or managers, and look several layers higher. These people are the ones shaping the policies that are going to drive the actions of your manager.
