How to handle being liked as a currency
Today on social media we are pushed to be our own person regardless of what anyone thinks and to do the things you like. At the same time with the prevalence of trends in both activities, food, and areas such as fashion you also see the push for things to be more similar at the same time. Ultimately everything is coming down to if you are liked or not. In doing so, whether its conscious or unconscious we have to decide for ourselves how much being liked is going to play into our success.
First we have to consider what being liked means. Typically this is the result of people having a positive view on you as a person. People are most likely going to like you for a combination of different things. For example, a friend may like you because you are a fun person to hang out with or you motivate them. On a personal level there are many factors that constitute someone liking you. It is much easier to ask for help and get favors when people like you and if you need to pay them back they tend to be much more flexible when working with you. In our personal lives much of it is governed by the unspoken social contract of relationships, so generally the more well liked you are the better you will do.
So now lets look at 3 things you can do to be more well liked in personal situations.
- Stand up for yourself and others when needed
