Reflections: making big changes in my life

On a personal note, 2024 has been rife with challenges on a personal level. From massive home renovations and repairs to planning a wedding, and promotions there have been no shortages of the challenges that the year has thrown towards me and my family. Though all of these challenges have been tough and pushed us in many ways, it has also been a tremendous learning opportunity. It illuminated basic concepts that I write about and others talk about. It made us learn new skills to cope with problems we hadn’t seen coming, and as much as it was an expensive stressful year, it was a year of growth. So I want to share 5 things I learned going through this year, that can help you grow and improve or better handle challenging situations.

  1. The small things really do matter

The small things you do everyday do matter. Its something I write about, and hear a lot from others. But the important thing is to carry that approach over to every area of your life. There were many areas where I was doing that very well, and others where I struggled. It was in those areas that I struggled where many of those problems occurred. I saw firsthand the literal damage that can occur when you fail to take care of something everyday. It is not only an expensive cost to repair, which can often come at great inconvenience.
