Understanding management styles
Unless you are an entrepreneur or the head of a company chances are you answer to some sort of boss. Each boss has a different management style, and they can dramatically affect your day to day work experience. So lets look at 5 common management styles you may encounter.
- Autocratic
This is the form of management that most people are familiar with. It takes work demands down from the top of the organization down to the bottom where the work actually takes place. An autocratic system is the default management system because it is simple and naturally formulated in the work place. It has clearly assigned roles making it a useful way to project roles going forward and doesn’t typically have a feedback period for which ideas are spread. The autocratic system is only limited by the quality of managers. Managers who act without regard for those below them will find that this system produces very high turnover. An autocratic system is more than likely the foundation for other management styles, but they will approach management differently.
2. Democratic approach
