Understanding management styles part 2

Unless you are an entrepreneur or the head of a company chances are you answer to some sort of boss. Each boss has a different management style, and they can dramatically affect your day to day work experience. So lets look at 3 more management styles that you may encounter in the workplace.

  1. Developmental management

This type of management seeks to develop their staff to fit the workload and duties that are associated with them. Once those basic duties are met they continue developing them to allow for the completion of even more complex assignments. This management style is time intensive as you may be spending countless hours developing staff, even more so if they are unfamiliar with the work that is being done. However, one of the greatest strengths of this management style is the ability to take on just about anyone and train them to do a given task. The qualifiers aren’t skills, but personality traits. Managers of this type look for people who want to learn and work hard. These managers engender great trust and loyalty from staff because they are so invested in seeing them do well and can benefit from keeping institutional knowledge with-in the organization.

2. Social management
