Why gambling won’t make you rich

When you think about gambling the first things that come to your mind are casinos full of blackjack tables, slot machines, and poker rooms. For many people testing their luck and skill is their pathway to wealth. However, gambling is not a pathway to wealth and it can be a dangerous path that can destroy relationships and lives. So lets look at 5 reasons why gambling is not going to make you wealthy.

  1. The house always wins

When you gamble you are playing against the casino, also known as the “house”. Because the casino is in the business of making a profit, you are knowingly putting money into a venture that is designed for you to lose. Many people think the dealers and machines are independent of a casino, but they are all under the casinos control from the odds of landing a jack pot to the number decks that are being used at the table. The casino is always going to stack the odds in its favor otherwise it wouldn’t turn a profit, so you should always go into gambling with the assumption that you will lose whatever amount you are inputting.

2. Slippery slope of loss

One of the hardest things for people to do when they gamble is to handle losing money. On a small scale, if you were to bet 5 dollars and lose it you would need to win 10 dollars to break even. (5 dollars to cover the first bet and then 5 more to…
